Can't retract slide

I own a 2002 fleetwood 31' class c.
It is parked on a level pad and hooked up.
The slide out was opened in October 2010 with no problems.
Now, won't retract. Manual states it needs to be level and parking break on.
Break is set but does not show break light in dash. Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you.

On my '02 Bounder Class A the engine needs to be on and running to operate the slides. If you do not see the brake light lit on the dash, with the emergency brake on and the ignition on, you may have a bad or misaligned brake switch. It is usually located on the emergency brake peddle linkage. This could cause the slide not to operate.

Brake is set but no light on dash. Any ideas.. Yes, two of them

ONE: if this is a foot pedal on the left side of the cockpit take a look near the top of the brake pedal assembly.. You should find a switch there with TWO yes TWO wires attached.. These wires attach with tab and flag type connectors.. SIZE SMALL, (smaller than normal) look for the missing wire and attach (NOTE: This is on a WOrkhorse chassis, I'm guessing it's simular on others)

Option 2. Release and re-set the brake

On my Workhorse I have to do this from time to time.

Also.. it seems that one of those wires is for the brake light and the other for other things. (the jacks in my case,, My slides work brakes on or off)

Option 3: Master switch.. My rig has a key operated master switch.. If I lock it and forget it slides won't (You can likely guess how I know this)

Option 4: and a relay controls everything,, or a fuse.

My Coachman (I know, different brand) slides will not operate with the engine running. Brake must be set.

dsmonks, welcome to the forum. Lots of good Fleetwood info from the memebers of this forum.

I think you are going to be required to get that brake light illuminated before your slides will operate. The switch should be located near the top of the parking brake lever and it should have two small wires. You should be able to activate the plunger on the switch by hand to see if the light will illuminate.
