Thumbs down Can't see in side view mirrors due to reflection from double pain side glass.

Is there anyone that knows of a fix for a problem that I have when looking in my side view mirrors to see what's behind or on the side of my 1999 Bounder 34 foot class A motor home with the factory electric adjustable side mirrors. All I see is a bad reflection in the mirrors from the double pain side windows both day or night making It almost impossible to see anything unless you stick your head out of the side window. I even tried removing the screens, but that didn't make any difference at all. Is there some kind of a film like a window tint or film that would cut down on some of the reflection ? Please contact me if you know of anyone that also has this problem and has found a solution as I am desperate and would have to change the double pain side windows to a standard single pain window if I can't find a solution real soon ! Thank You Very Much ! Michael Westcott @ puppiescars@yahoo.com

I put a cling window tint on our windows because of the heat. I then had to remove them because of the glare.

The reflection on the drivers' side window is coming from the front windshield. It only happens on my '16 under certain circumstances.
Yes it's a BIG problem.
No, I don't have a solution for it.
Curious if anyone else has resolved it.

I made a blinder from plywood and attached it with angled aluminum strip using Velcro. I remove it when parked so blinds will close. I would make it 5 to 6 inches wide, mine is only 4 inches wide.

I don't think it is limited to double pane side windows. I have the same issue, mostly in certain light conditions, and had it on my earlier MH with single pane side windows as well.

Great idea. I may need to borrow it.

Wow. How did you come up with the front window? I have been cussing this problem for a year now. Like you said only certain times and places but never thought about the glare coming from the windshield. I park mine in a pole barn and sometimes I am in/out a dozen times to check. The DW usually gets out and guides me, sometimes she is a PIA, sometimes I can see just fine.

I have been seriously thinking about taking out the side window and see if the glass shop could do some modifications to help.

This sounds like a great idea. I am going to figure out something like this. Thanks for this. Just thinking if a window visor would work. Like I said I would never thought it was coming from the windshield.

Better start a patent on this idea!

My shield, a temporary arrangement about three years ago and still working so well that there is no replacement planned, is cardboard painted black. Stops all the annoying reflections from the front. Another thing that works well is to cover the entire dash with black felt to stop the nice bone dash from reflecting off the windshield. And then finally, the defroster fan - also painted bone - was reflecting strongly off the passengers side window (the entry door) and that reflection was right in line with the passenger side mirror. Offcut of the black felt wrapped around the fan fixed that problem.

Should be mandatory design rule to make every surface in front of the driver non-reflective

"Better start a patent on this idea!" too late, the solution has been published many times on this and other fora

My late DW complained because she could never see out the drivers side window due to the double pane glass. A few weeks ago I had that window replaced with heavy single pane glass since it was fogged up. Too late for her now though.

I recently had my windows tinted. Definitely makes the glare much worse.

I'm using cell phones along with the side and rear view cameras as a work around.

Haven't tried sticking my head out the window...not to sure about that.

I also installed a glare shield on the driver's side. I made an aluminum bracket that attaches to the window frame, painted it flat black, mounted three squares of Velcro on it, and then have a piece of black Corroplast with matching Velcro pieces, about a foot square. It works great.

I got the idea from here on iRV2!

I don't need one on the passenger side because that mirror is out front of the coach.

This problem has nothing to do with double pane glass. Get in your car. You have been looking past the reflections forever. I do have a working perfect solutions. Just afraid to show it here. You do need the solution/answer to the problem on both sides.

Oh, and here in NY you cannot tint by more than 10%.

Tinting is not the answer anyway.

I did the same thing as waroland, only made the size and shape more specific
to what was needed to just block the reflection in the mirror. I first used cardboard and kept trimming it until I got the exact fit, size & shape needed, then cut the finished product out of fluted plastic (like they print signs on), and painted it black. I attach it with velcro strips to remove easily. Also it needs to be in a pretty direct line between your eye and the corner post to prevent obstruction of view. I started doing this with the last coach after tinting my side windows. The tint made it nearly impossible to use the mirrors due to the reflection.
