Carefree Awning Model

I am sure someone should easily know the answer to my question since there are several 2000 year or similar Eagles on here. I need to buy a new spring/end for my awning. I know it is a CAREFREE, but is the model a FIESTA -- think it is from looking at pictures?????

thx Dale

Before you buy a spring look at the "Carefree 850001 White Pioneer Crank-Out RV Awning Upgrade Endcap Kit"

I have a 1999 fleetwood jamboree with a carefree fiesta awning. The above unit looks to work on all of them.

Cheaper than a spring kit for even one side and it works great. Mine would not retract and i had to use a step ladder. This replaces the spring on the right side, no need to mess with the other side. The kit comes with the left side but i just left the original left side in.

It is a worm gear so there is no chance of wind hitting the side of your rig on the road and having it unfurl itself. I did a lot of research into locks and whatnot and it looks like this negates the need for it.

In all the video's I have seen the diameter of the tube that the awning is wrapped around does not seem as large as mine. That is my concern in ordering a replacement spring system or crank end cap system.

I will measure mine but not for a few weeks as I am out of town on business next week.

It could be just my eyesight -- lol

thx Dale

Took some pics of the old endcap and spring assembly. The ID of the end cap is just under 3.5" (like 3 - 7/16") (third pic). The part that receives the leg (second pic) is about 3" wide. That part does fit a little loose when placed over the end of the leg but so did the original, once the bolt is snugged down its tight.

The only thing with this setup is you'll have to buy or make something like this "Carefree R001546-RP Pioneer RV Awning Telescoping Hand Crank Handle". I just bought a 4' long 5/16" rod from the hardware store and bent it up to make a hook, this way i can connect it to my cordless drill. Used it twice so far and its so easy and fast i have not even broke out the drill.

Even if you bought the above crank handle and the "pioneer encap kit" you'd still probably be paying less than you would for 1 spring.

Also no more dangerous spring to tension or break.
