Cargo Bay Locking Arms
We have a 2001 Bounder and we are having issues with the cargo bay locks. Initially I thought the latches just needed lubrication. I tried that to no avail. I have one door where you can pull the hand latch but the arms have no effect on the locking latches. Because the doors seem to be sealed units I have no idea how to open them up to see what is going on. There is the outer shell and an inner shell . Between those two there is foam. In the foam it appears that there are channels cut out for the arms. Does anyone have any hints on how they can be repaired to working condition?
Thanks

Check the brackets where the latches go in. I just had to replace some missing screws in two of my door brackets that were missing. This fixed my locking problems with the doors. Eddie Elk.

On my 96, the screws are on the door's edge. You have to open the basement door to see them, else take the inside latch cover off and see if there is enough room so you can fix/see the problem. Probably just the arms got disconnected.

If I unscrew them the latch will be loose on the inside of the door which basically does me no good. I will try to get some photos to post later today. The doors seem to remain closed while traveling but I'd feel better knowing I could latch and lock them.

The mechanism is plastic that does the pulling of the linkage inside the handle. This can wear or break with time, last year I replaced all eleven latch 's with new ones which are all steel. Also I replaced all the catch's in the door edge with all metal ones with a lifetime warranty. Two years ago I was unable to open my wetbay. My black, grey tanks were full and my fresh tank was empty from dry camping for a week! It took me four hours to get it open, temps were in the twentys that day! I don't take my compartment doors lightly anymore.

Hopefully as you can see by these photos the inner and outer sheet metal are sealed with the foam in the middle. There are screws on the ends but I just don't see anyway to separate the shell and be able to keep it intact to replace it.
Again ... it seems as though the arms running inside the door have become disconnected. The pull latch/handles seem to be fine.

Mine look just like that. If I remember correctly, the corner screws have to come out. Then use a putty knife and carefully slide it between the edge door pieces and the wall piece to separate them (they were glued together). Start on the inside piece. The screws that hold the latch inplace has nuts on the inside. The hardest part for me was opening the door because the latch was broke on the inside. I just uses a thin piece of metal and just kept working the latch until it finally opened and I took the door off.

They are pretty simple to change I bought mine on amazon. I open the bay door next to it and I could push the broken plunger in to open it.

That's correct. Those corner screws are rusted in and be hard to get out. Spray lube and impact driver and hope you don't need to drill them out. Once those 4 screws are out the door should come apart.

Mine was next the wheel well. No way to get at it from the other side.
