Carpet Stretching

I have carpeting in the living area of my Providence and wish to keep it. The carpeting has developed a slight hump the full length of the floor, where the movement of the slide-out has stretched it over the years. Has anyone had any luck re-stretching the carpeting to eliminate this defect? It looks like it would be a difficult job.

Probably not. I was in the residential property management business for many years and when the lamination on the back of the carpet is damaged there is little recourse but to replace it. Call a carpet cleaning co. for an estimate/opinion on a clean/repair . Won't cost anything.

I had A similar issue on my Discovery. In my case the carpet didn't actually stretch. The side of the carpet directly under the slide was clamped in a piece of aluminum that also serves as the ramp for the slide. Well that attachment failed. I bought a carpet stretcher from harbor freight, stretched it back into position and reclamped it to the aluminum. Going on five years now with no new issues.

I finally got around to getting an estimate to have the L/R carpet re-stretched in my 39J. I took it to Giant RV in Montclair CA. They originally said no problem, it would be a 2 hour job. They called me back to tell me that there is no way to re-stretch the L/R carpet on my particular model without removing the street-side L/R slideout. They claim the slide prevents full access to the edge of the carpeting, and said it would be a 6-8 hour job to remove it. This would quickly turn into a $1k job. Dismayed, I told them forget it. I don't have much faith in Giant RV, so I definitely don't want them monkeying around with my slide. Hopefully I can eventually find a reputable place that can do it for less. Until then I will have to live with it.

Why can't they leave the slide side alone and pull it the other way?

There are slides on each side.
