CB antenna replacement

We have a 2008 Providence 40x and it has a CB antenna on top that doesn't seem to transmit very well. Has anyone replaced this antenna? Just wondering because we are going to Alaska with another camper and would like to be able to call back and forth. Handhelds won't carry far enough and cell phone may not work in many of the remote areas.

I replaced my NGP 12" wire rod antenna with a tunable NGP Firestick. (non ground plane). I used the same mount.

It states that Using an NGP antenna with standard coax cable will result in serious performance issues. Did you replace the cable? Just wondering and thanks for the info.

AFAIK, the original antenna was NGP since it's mounted in fiberglass. I just upgraded the stick and the CB shop tuned it on install.

Tried the NGP Firestick my mount isn't anywhere close to the same this antenna won't fit. Anyone have any suggestions. Or maybe a different mount?
