Thanks Old Bounder. I guess I should have clarified. Both batteries don't charge through the BCC when plugged in. I have an echo charger on the coach batteries that keep the start battery charged when plugged in. The start battery will not charge from the charger/converter. The coach batteries will. The start battery does charge from the alternator. That's why I suspect the solenoid. I haven't figured out yet how to remove the old solenoid to replace it since it sandwiched between two immovable metal strips in the BCC box. So it sounds like if the solenoid is not replaced, the coach bank is not going to charge while driving. I have already checked all the fuses and they are OK. I have also checked the little circuit breakers in the fuses. I suspect the entire box will have to be removed and disassembled to replace the solenoid. Chuck

Not wanting to change my failed isolator solenoid, I installed a Cyrix Combiner.

It can handle 120 amps, is bi-directional and only needs 3 wires to work. I simply connected a short, 10 gauge wire, to each side of my bad solenoid and added a ground wire. Been working fine for 3 years.

I carry jumper cables so a boost funtion isn't important.

This is a great, easy way to go if you are not comfortable or just dont want to hassle with removing and replacing the solenoid. If your one of those people that want it like the factory, then go ahead and change it out. Really not all that complicated and you will have all functions the factory intended. With the rate these things fail at, you think somebody would design one that lasts.

I finally just bit the bullet today and replaced the solenoid in the BCC. Not an easy job and not something I don't want to do again soon. But it's done and all batteries are charging as they should. I haven't tried the start assist switch yet but I suspect it will work. The echo charger is still in place but disconnected so I can use it if ever need be again. But for now, both battery banks are being charged through the BCC. Now I have to install the satellite radio and antenna. We are heading off for a cross country trip on May 1st so these projects all need to get done soon. Thanks for everyones input. Chuck

Nice job! Always bugs me when things don't work as designed by factory. There is always a way around it but always feels good knowing it's working as designed.
