city water inlet not letting water in '96 Southwind
as I was stretching the hose on our 96 southwind I accidently pulled the hookup out(rivets popped out)...ooops.. after that it would not let water into the coach no leaking water hose and it had a ton of pressure on it., I shut water off( no leaks anywhere) unscrewed the hose from motorhome and found a plastic piece that was attached to a spring like plunger that was broken,im sure this is the trouble anyone else have had this issue,is it a hard fix., is there anyway I can temporarily fix it till I can find a new one ??,,,,,,,
really need to fix this , because the wife and I have been living in it since last may, I quess we are full timers,,,if we can make the winter in it==lol
thanks in advance....bap

The broken part is probably the check valve - it allows city water in, but does not let water back out when the internal RV pump is being used.
You can remove it with a set of needle nose plyers . Don't run the RV water pump unless you cap the city connection - a cap is a standard garden hose size and available everywhere (make sure it has a rubber seal).

I pulled mine out a couple years ago and as I recall you'll find a small pin that holds it together. Once released it just came right out.

I just tried it, I got the spring out but was afraid to pull to hard on the white plastic piece that it was around,,,,did not notice a pin.
should I remove the whole inlet for this as I posted the rivets have already pulled out of the mh holding it in place...

I went to homedepot and got an outdoor faucet (smallest metal one I could get) that screw into the city water connection. Now I can hook the city water hose to it, open the valve and I'm on city water. Or I can close the valve and run my water pump. This is also an easy way to winterize the water line going out as well as hook a hose up to wash my RV using the internal water/pump. I have a male to female water adapter for the various hose combinations.
