Cleaning Fireplace 'vent'

Sitting here and the sun shines just right can see dust in the fireplace vent-where controls are located. How/can this be removed to give it a good cleaning/or do I need to modify some 6" Q-tips? Has anyone else tackled this?

Try compressed air?
