Post Compartment door removal

Does anyone know how to remove the compartment doors on a Fleetwood Discovery. I have removed the stops. The door will open to the vertical and rest against the side of the coach above the compartment, but it will not allow you to disconnect it from hidden hinge. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ed.

Its been years, but I believe the hinge runs the length of the coach. You have to take the wheel well cover off and slide all the doors off until you get to the right one. Call fleetwood at 1 800 325 6388 and check.

You ddo not say which year Discovery but as I recall once you remove the struts that hold the door open you just slide the door to the left or right off the upper part of the hinge. I would lube the hinge well with WD40 first so that it slides easily. At least that is the way it works on my 2000 D.

Toss that WD into the trash and get a real lubricant, like Ace Lub-E or (gosh) some 5W motor oil!

Capt, open door to about 135 degrees and push in at the top. I think your doors are the same as my Bounder doors. The top is a 'j' rail and you cannot slide the doors to the next compartment.

Thanks, Ted. Your suggestion was right on. After removing the three keepers located in the track on the inside of the compartment and held in place by a single screw each, I was able to remove the door just as you said. It actually fell out of the track. Now I can take it to the body shop to have a dent removed.
Incidentally, the screw head takes an octagonal bit like a torx bit with eight points, but these are very hard to locate, so I wound up using a square bit. It fit snug and worked fine.

I have a 2007 Expedition and have dinged the small compartment door and want to take it off. I have removed the lift arms and several screws but the metal lip above the door that has several screw behind it I can't get it off. any suggestions would be appreciated. I can unsnap it and that is all it won't go any higher to get to the screws??????
