Considering '08 Southwind 32VS WH

Our 1st MH adventure. Built late 2007, WH chassis w/big Chevy & 38K mi. Great floor plan for us & in our budget ~$60K. Plan to dolly '94 Buick Regal (our canoe hauler :-). Mixed mountain and coastal travel. Any specifics we should be aware/cautious of? Or should we look for older but same size DP with 350+ hp? Been roaming the RV forums but not so much on Southwinds? Which could be good? Great forum. Tks, Rick

We have a 2007 32V with the Ford V10 and haven't had any major problems. If there was anything we would change about it, would be no carpet or at least have laminate or tile in front of the entry. This our second Fleetwood product and I have nothing but good things to say about them, can't say about their customer service, haven't needed it. My next one will most likely be a DP simply for the ride , towing capacity, and basement storage. I considered trading for an older, 2005, DP last fall but decided against it because even though the drivetrain was un hurt with only 20000 miles, all the other parts of the coach were older than my Southwind. When I trade, it will be for a newer coach, not older. Just my opinion.

Encouraging Response

Thanks for the positive info, and this unit has laminate in the entry and kitchen area. My forum roaming suggest either big gassers fine if well cared for. Guess I'll just have to be a bit patient on long grades. Feel similar about trading for an "older' DP. My neighbor & local RV salesman said coach parts normally wear out before drive trains that are well-serviced. Happy travels. Rick

Congrats! Welcome to the FW family.

Be sure the brake recall (WH chassis) has been done as well as any recalls on your fridge.

Thanks for the welcomes & advice. Take all guidance I can get :-). Recalls were taken care of by very conscientious previous owner. In the shop now for full "physical". Next adventure is a tow dolly for our oldie but goodie Buick Regal for toad and to carry our canoes. Suggs welcome and I'll roam the forums too. Has a 5K hitch so should be ok. Pic soon. Safe Travels, Mick n Rick n our shorty Russel "Milly"
