Dash light switch question
Hi All.
Great to see this new Bounder specific thread. I think I have a Bounder specific question.
I have a 2002 36U which has an all analog dash gauge set. The question I have is about the dash light switch. When I pull the light switch out to the first position the parking and clearance lights come on as expected. When I pull the knob all the way out to the second position the headlights come on as expected. And here is where I have a question...
In order to get the dash lights to come on I have to then turn the knob all the way (I think I remember it is CCW) until it clicks. They do not seem to have any dimmer option. Also, in order to operate the map lights, which have their own on/off button, I also have to turn the light switch to the full click position. Does this seem like the normal operation for this unit?
I figured I would ask here first before calling Fleetwood. Thanks!
Helmut

My Bounder is on a Freightliner chassis and they supplied the head lamp and wiper control knobs. Maybe your question is more Workhorse related, assuming Workhorse supplied the head lamp control switch.

My Ford has a dial for lights and a thumb wheel for dimmers.

Hey Helmutk,
I had a light switch just like yours and worked the same way as you described. Dash lights brightest just before you clicked on the map lights.

Thanks all.
The problem is they dash lights do not come on at all until I click the knob all the way. Then they come on bright. I am thinking the switch may be bad since I do not have any dim adjustment for the dash lights, and there is no separate dimmer switch for them. As soon as all this snow we have melts I can get to the MH and check out the switch wiring in more detail.
No biggie, just bought this MH, my first, in August and am still working through the little issues I have with it.

Helmut, the chassis maker supplies the headlight switch and controls. However, Fleetwood has diagrams available for any modification or adaptations they make. Yours sounds like a wiring error (maybe malfunction) or a defective switch rheostat.
Gather your FIN (Fleetwood ID Number) and VIN (Vehicle ID Number) and go to Fleetwood Customer Service with a request for your specific Heating, Electrical and Plumbing diagrams. They will e-mail them to you very quickly.

Thanks, yes I plan on doing this. Can't wait for Spring so I can get back to futzing around the Bounder.

The factory attached the wrong wire.. When you turn all the way and it clicks.. thats for an interior light that you don't have.. remove the hot wire and move it to the reostat connection.

Thanks Rick!
I will check for that when I get back into the Bounder.
