I thought I'd make a thread documenting my remodeling projects in order to prepare for full time living later this year.

Today: Removed coach refrigerator to facilitate left side water damage repair.





First, confirmed the propane tank was firmly shut off and the line was bled of any residual propane. Second, turned off all AC & DC power including pulling fuse for refrigerator.

Third, unplugged AC power to fridge in the back.

Fourth, disconnected DC wires from fridge in the back.

Fifth, disconnected propane connection to fridge in back. Had to be careful & used 2 knipex's because using only 1 would have applied undue damage to the connection mount.

Sixth, disconnected the screws on both the left & right side of the fridge in the back.

Next, found and removed mounting screws on front side of fridge. Total = 8

Also removed doors along with all shelves inside.


With the help of my brother, we wiggled the fridge out and moved it!




I was suprised at how dirty the underneath portion was.







Now that this is done, happy camper time! It was cold out & we are done for today.



BTW, how is the resale value on used RV fridges? I now have one for sale!

Today I worked on tearing down the refrigerator framing.

Cleaned up the bottom.

Looks like there may be some water damage that had been under the fridge for a while?


Took insulation down.


Breaking apart the framing was a pain with the staples. Screws would have been alot easier.


Got it mostly stripped down.


Next step will be tackling the circuit breaker station below the fridge and then moving on next to the microwave and oven.

Today I continued to tear down the refrigerator closet and then worked on disassembling the upper kitchen.

Here is the before and after of the circuit breaker station that was under the fridge.


I took a break from there after exposing all the electrical and started to disassemble the microwave area.


I now can add a convection microwave oven to my for sale list!

Earlier this week I worked some more at dismanteling the electrical at the circuit breaker station.

I worked on the remodel this weekend doing more tear down. I did not realise tear down can take a while, but perhaps I'm just slow!


Took down the lighting cabinet next to the microwave cabinet.


Here is more microwave cabinet /vent removal.



Disconnected wire harness that operates the readings for water levels & battery charge. It is located on the vent below the microwave..Attachment 277347

Got the cabinet separated from the vent. The vent was held in place with some super strong small diameter cable to the outside vent hole. It took a while to figure out how to detatch it.

Now I am making my way to the water damage in the kitchen.

You can see how the water has pooled in the cheap insulation board for a long time.
