Discovery 40E big slide won't go out
Hi All,
Just purchased a 2015 40E and took out for its maiden voyage. When trying to put the big slide out, the locks retract, but the slide won't go out. I've cycled several times and checked to make sure the locks are in their "pockets". That first stage seems to work properly, but it won't continue to slide out. Any ideas??

Is your engine running? It needs to have a high enough voltage to get the full wall slide out. I would start there.

Yes, the engine was running and I even tried the cruise on, resume to idle up. Still didn't work.

I would check fuses next ... My slide controller is in the basement on the ceiling. Has some bigger fuses, not sure if it is in the same place on yours. Not sure if you are part of the Discovery owners group ... They have an email group with a bunch of good technical folks on it

My American Coach has a battery disconnect switch for the slide along with the others in the battery compartment.

I'll check the fuses. You would think if the fuse was bad, the locks wouldn't retract. It did it a few days ago when I parked and all of a sudden worked after locking and unlocking a few times. When I drove home and parked, only the locks retracted, no slide. I joined Discovery owners group. Haven't received my email confirmation back yet. Thanks for the advice guys.

check in the storage department for the controller, check the plugs on it. I had same issue sometimes it would start to go out or in and stop. I found the plugs can come loose, i tighten up all the contacts never had an issue, 4yrs.

Discovery 40E big slide won't go out
Not familiar with your slide wiring but I know for a fact that my full wall slide is powered by the house batteries. I can follow power wires from my controller to house batteries.

Also the latches need to fully retract and close a contact. I never had to do it but I think you can remove the covers, inside the overhead bin and make sure the contacts are closed.
Everytime I had this problem it was under voltage. Including the time the water pump was leading into the belt that runs the alternator.

I never did this either but have heard that starting the generator can help. Of course of it is a fuse or latch switch that won't help.

Tried again yesterday and it worked fine. Started the engine, idled up and the slide extended normally. My house batteries are new and voltage shows 12.85.
