Discovery Camera Monitor Blank

I was driving yesterday and the camera monitor just went blank. I opened the access panel and found just one connection. I checked it and it was secure. Has this happened to any other Discovery owners? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Are you sure you didn't inadvertently set it to a different setting like aux and there is just no input? Make sure the monitor is set to the proper setting for rear camera. Mine has rear, left side, right side and aux. If its on aux it just shows a black screen.

Discovery Monitor Blank

Update: I talked to Magnadyne and they suggested I disconnect the rear camera since I have picture on the left and right. I found the green connector under the dash and disconnected it. I put in a new fuse and the rear showed no signal (good). I could at least have right and left for my trip.

But after a few seconds the fuse blew again. So they said either the monitor or the wiring harness is bad. I talked to Fleetwood and they offered to look at it in Decatur under their "drop in" program. I thought that was really nice. I am going there in 10 days.

I just wanted to ride along and gather some information and not hijack a thread .. But since the OP has a solution I will explain further . About a year ago , during a heavy rainstorm I lost the camera feed , It did come back about 2nweeks later . This year during the winter we drove through another heavy rain and the same thing happened , that is lost the picture on the monitor . I have been up on a ladder and removed the camera and found the connector from the camera to the main cable had some corrosion . cleaned that connector and still no joy. The monitor lights up with a blue screen showing . Yes I have checked to see if a control was inadvertently set to aux
. It is a Sony system with no side cameras in black and white ( not color ) .
I have not been under the dash ,yet. How do I test the camera or monitor or main cable to see where the fault is at ..
All suggestions gratefully received

When my monitor died in just two months on my 2014 Bounder 33C, I first called my dealer and then called Magnedyne. I saw nothing on the screen. No menus. Magnedyne wanted me to do a full reset by holding in the menu button till the sub menu appeared. Had the menu been visible I was to select reset option. If that did not fix the problem the monitor was bad. The tech at Magnedyne figured it out, as I did, that a screen without any image and no menus signified a bad monitor. Rather than drive 600 miles round trip to the dealer, I convinced them ,the dealer,to allow me to replace the monitor (not easy to convince them). I shipped it out and Fleetwood sent a new monitor from inventory. That monitor does not require hunting under a dash for wire access etc. The monitor pops out of its trim bezel with a thin piece of sheet aluminum slid between the monitor and the bezel. Slide the aluminum in, Push up and the monitor pops out. All of the connections are reachable through the bezel. Magnedyne techs made it easy to get a solution rolling.

By the way, the dealer did not know the procedure for easily getting the replacement monitor. Magnedyne did.

Ok.. Thanks woodydell. Although my monitor ( and camera ) is a Sony , I will try the reset procedure..In this Bounder the monitor is hardwired and is attached to a bracket on top of the dash. The wire from the monitor enters the space behind the dash from a hole next to the bracket . If I can get the cam to work I will be a happy camper , If not it may be time for a upgrade and add the side view cameras .

The seller of our MH had black out issues before we bought it so he had the B&W monitor replaced with a color unit. Seemed to work OK until we bought it and then it began to experience the same black outs. We took it to the RV repair shop where he had the color unit installed and they replaced the back camera. Still had black outs. It ended up being the coax from the monitor to the camera. It somehow had rubbed through. We had to replace the coax and it has worked 100% since.
