That would be the air intake grill. There are 4 screws in the black shelves below the radio. Take those shelves & heater control knobs out, rotate it around to the side and you'll be able to get to the two screws that hold the grill in place. It would be a good idea to put some 1/2" hardware cloth over that opening just to prevent any debris from being sucked in.

While you're in there, you might want to cut out all the excess kinked up tube between the air box and the dash vents. Can't do anything but help the air flow.

The evaporator coil is just through that hole and up, but you can't reach it. Go outside over the generator, remove the filter, then you can see & touch the bottom side of the coil through that opening. You'll also be able to see straight in through the opening that goes to the inside of the coach. That filter opening is also where you'll have to work to put in a new thermostat temp. probe.

I have a HD Denso unit in my 15 Discovery. I did find kinked hoses and hoses leading to places behind the dash that did no good for the passengers. It keeps the front cool but not behind us.
In the winter it might take 15 minutes to get engine heat 35' up from the engine.

All my work was done under warranty and I’m quite sure it came from Fleetwood parts in Decatur.

If you get one, I’ll give you the detail on installation.

I have a 2019 Discovery LXE 40G. I’m experiencing the same a/c issues described above. I plan on removing the intake grill as described above. Where does the temp probe need to be moved? Just below the evaporator coil? Thanks.

Below is a picture of the new temp switch you'll need to get. You don't move the old one, just snip it off and leave in place, too much damage will occur if you try to pull it out.

Here’s the temp switch. You may be able to source one on Amazon.

Another place you might try is the manufacturer, there filters are less expensive than getting them from Fleetwood. Call Aurora North America LLC, Grand Rapids, ph. 616 698 8545 to see what a switch cost. It's in the area of $135 from Fleetwood last I knew.
If you get a switch, get back with me and I'll provide pictures and exact instructions.
