I'm not dissappointed in my 16 year 3 month old(Built Aug. 1998) 99 D. Rubber roof still looks good. May have to replace in another 5 years or so.
I do wash it 2 times a year with a 1550 PSI pressure washer with wide fan setting and NO soap or Protectant used.
It has been used Full Time 12 years 3 months by me.
Plan on the D outlasting me.
So far the Rubber Roof has outlasted 2 AC's, 1 couch, 1 patio awning, 3 window awnings, 1 slide out awning, 2 frosted windows, 1 PG jack motor and 1 hot water heater.

Our 2008 Discovery 40x is just like being home. We part time in it meaning when we leave we never really know when we'll be back or where all we're going.
Do have a couple fogged windows that I've got to git-a-round-to but love the coach.

2010 40x. First RV, bought in July 2014 with 9600 miles. Negotiated new tires, batteries, fresh detail and service. Private owner sale. Have a little more than 2k miles seat time. Some nice, some scary. I-35 Ok city to Austin was hairy at times. Have had a few nice toys but this takes the cake. Headed to Ark for game end of November, trout fishing on Little Red River, Thanksgiving with family, then to World Championship Duck Gumbo Cookoff in Stuttguart!! If I iver get to retire I think I could get used to the traveling life!
Questions---These coaches look like luxury cacoons going down the highway. I think I can fell every pebble and expansion joint. Previous owner had a trucking company and put Double Coin tires on my rig. Is that the problem. If it is can I just swap out the steers and see improvement? Recomendations please. Thanks and safe travels to all. JD

Here is a web site for Double Coin Tires:
Commercial Truck Tires, Double Coin, Fuel Efficient Tires, FD405
Our coaches are relatively light compared to a 80,000 pound over the road rig. Tires and their pressures are everything when it comes to rough ride. What kind of tire pressures are you running? How does the sidewall construction compared to say Michelin or Goodyear RV tires? I'd be willing to bet the Coin tires are stiff and not made for our coaches. Also, RV tires are made for long life and not long tire mileage. But, I'm just shooting from the hip as they say.

WOW - A Family Reunion
It takes me back almost a decade when I see familiar nicks like Bigd9 and Triker56. I'm still fulltiming in my "well experienced" (as Pete Bigd9 would always say) 1996 Discovery. No slides but a Banks system and I still get about 9.5mpg. I picked mine up in San Diego back in 2002. It had one owner and was always garaged.
If irv2 wants to set up a "Discovery" forum, I would be happy to support it in any way I can. I just hope old farts like me would be welcome.

When I got it had 110 al the way around. I dropped the steers to 100 and the drives to 95 and it helped a little. Maybe it is what it is. I don't have anything to compare it too. Thanks,,JD

On my coach there is a form pasted to the wall next to the drivers seat that list the recommended tire pressures. Use these until you get the coach weighed and can compute a more accurate tire pressure.

Since we all have Discovery's here, do any of you have any catchy names or phrases you use for your coach?
When traveling from city to city I will e-mail our sons with each move to keep them posted to our whereabouts. Always start with......" The Discovery has landed in______".

Darn, I was trying to hide from you and you found me! How are you doing Kit?Its been 10 years since we worked on that water fill valve on your mature coach together, and then enjoyed a nice meal. We just left Texas a few days ago and we are heading back home after 3 months on the road. As far as being a "Old Fart".....I don't remember you as being Old, and I can't really attest to the second part of that title!!!!
I'll PM you soon.
