Discovery Leveling System Question
I have a Discovery 40E and was wondering if I am able to use Auto Level with Coach plugged into 50 amp and Engine not running? I'm assuming the leveling system is powered by Electric and not dependent on Chassis. I have also noticed from time to time, the leveling system will show low Voltage, even if the Engine is running and plugged into 50 amp???? It does however, always finish leveling.

The slides on my 08 Bounder were operable with ign key on( engine not running ) the jacks ( power gear electric ) required the engine to be running. What system is in your MH ?

When I got a low voltage warning it was the alternator not the jacks. I have the electric jacks and they are very sensitive to power. If I am going to raise or lower the jacks I always run the engine because of the one time I did not and they went into error mode half way through a cycle. It took a few hours to find someone at Fleetwood who knew how to reset the system.

You're going to have to contact Fleetwood for the answer. Be sure to have your "FIN" (Fleetwood Identification Number) handy when you call. You can find it on the big yellow sticker next to the driver captain chair.
I can operate the two smaller slides with the engine off, but the full wall slide and the jacks require the engine to be running. You saw Cliff's response, he could operate all slides, but not the jacks. Each configuration will be different depending on what the engineers felt was needed to keep from drawing down the batteries or hydraulic pressure for your coach's specific design specs.

We're like Cliff as well. I let the air out and deploy jacks with the engine running. Then hook up to shore power and extend slides with the engine off. The batteries will extend the slides as well if we're boondocking. Same format in reverse.

Yes, what he said! I looked at the manual and it says engine must be running, parking brake set.

Engine running the jack motors get 13.8 to 14 + volts. What the jacks like.
Engine not running jacks get 12.2V.
Jacks are powered by 12V from the chassis batteries not 120V electric.
You can get a lot of info and tips on your discovery at Discovery Owners.

The guy at Fleetwood told me 13.6v, and they will operate. Under 50amp shore with the key on and the inverter set to 100% charge, 50 amp charge they should work. I can open little slide this way and level but the engine has to be on for wall slide. Normally, engine for us is on for all of the above.
