Lori is indeed correct. At an FMCA semier we attended, a rep from Dometic stated the process is pretty much reversed from AC. The heat pumps first remove moisture from the air and then the heat, venting the heat back inside instead of outside. We too have plenty of water running off our downspouts when running the heat pumps.

One other comment on the 'waking up to 40f'. On our Bounder the thermostat will not display temps below 40, but it does work. It also has a high temp limit but I don't recall it off hand. So if your in cold weather and depending on it to prevent freezing, please depend on something else instead.

Not a problem in the Bounder

Hasn't been a problem in our new to us Bounder. Not only are the two small heaters quieter they do not 'cycle' as often as the big heaters in our previous RV's.
