I can't seem to get a straight answer on this one from the dealer who sold me my coach.

My 05 Revolution 40L thermostat has an electric heat setting. When I set to that setting, the overheads turn on and air blows.

The air never ever gets any warmer, at all.

I tried turning it on for hours at 60 degrees outside and in, and 4 hours later, even though I had set the thermostat to 70, it was still 60 inside.

So the dealer tells me "you don't have heat pumps, that must not be the original thermostat" which sounds silly.

And RV Masters didn't give me a straight answer either.

So why would the thermostat have the option, and air blows, but the coach not have heat pups or heat strips... Hoping an owner can give me a straight answer on that one.

Call FW 800-322-8216 and give them your FW ID #. They should be able to answer that for you.

If the thermostat has heat settings you could have heat strips or heat pumps. But it does sound like they're not working.
On our DSDP with heat pumps the furnace will come on if there's more than like 4° difference in the inside temp and what you set. Also, they default to the furnace if the outside temp gets down to about 32°.
Heat pumps don't put out hot air, they put out air that's less than body temp so it will feel cool to you. They do take some getting used to. We've had them in our stick house since 1987 and in the MH's since 2000.

On my 05 revolution LE, 38x, both are heat pumps.
They are made by AirXcel. Call them with your model numbers 316-832-4357 folks there are very helpful.

all great info.

I notice when I go more than 3 degrees, the furnace kicks on too.

I have heard that they don't blow "hot air", but the reason I thought they might not be working is the lack of any temperature change after 4 hours.

I'll get on the roof and make sure they are air excel's and give them a buzz too.

Yes, furnace kicks on if you set the temps 3 degrees or more hotter than ambient. I've got one that puts out over 100 degrees and the other one has a problem I think. On my list to investigate.

Heat pumps DO put out very warm air....in fact, they heat many large homes here in Florida when the temps take a dip. They are very effective when trying to heat air in the fifties and high forties. They become less effective as the outdoor temps drop from there. That's when lp furnaces earn their keep. I have two Mach 15's, both with heat pumps and they are effective at keep our coach toasty through the fifties. If we're at a cg,we tend to use the heat pumps and save our lp gas for when temps get frosty.

I have a 2002 revolution and have the same thermostat as you and do not have heat pumps.

We had an 03 Rev and that electric setting was for the heat pump function. We almost never used that setting for the stated reasons. Two gas furnaces did a great heating job, but the heat pump feature on the a/c units was not much force. We heat and cool our stick and bricks home with heat pumps in Missouri, but it is a ground loop system. That is a top notch system, but guess it might be a problem to connect to 7,000 ft of ground loop in the Rev!

If the outside temp is too cold, heat pumps will not work. On our rig if you turn the heat pump on and it is too cold, the gas furnace automatically kicks in.

A heat pump is your AC working in reverse. When heating a valve (revering valve) is activated that makes the AC work backwards. Instead of cold air in and hot air out it passes hot in and cold out. They only generally are effective down to the high 30's. After that they tend to freeze up. They usually have sensors that prevent them from working when it too cold. Then the emergency heat - strip or furnace firesup.

Just throwing this out there as I know you like to know how it all works!

HA no kidding! I really like the furnace to knock the cold out! The electric setting just makes me feel more cold... It's take LP like crazy though, we just had to fill up for the second time, but I don't care, I can afford it.
