Doghouse Engine Cover
Hi everyone ! im new here and was looking for some help. I just bought my 2005 Southwind 32v W22 with the 8.1 and for the life of me....I cannot figure out how to get the bottom section of the "Doghouse" out? the top section was easy peeesy.....I have searched everywhere and cannot seem to get the right answer.....Checked with the prior owner and he did not know either....Could it be non removable? Someone installed it right! I cannot find any bolts, screws, latches etc....anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

Have you tried using a magnet all around the bottom to look for hidden screws ?
Good luck and keep us posted

From the looks of the photo, you will have screws hidden within the carpet around the perimeter base of the doghouse. The doghouse has a lip or edge with screws in it that must be removed.

There must be screws somewhere in it? I am trying not to mess up the carpet any more than it already is because it is obviously just glued on but would you think the hidden screws would be on the floor around it, or on the doghouse cover itself?

Have you tried lifting the carpet along the edge of the doghouse at the base? The screws are likely under the carpet then.

Havent tried that yet, but it looks like I will have to do that....Was trying not to, just to keep from fraying the carpet around it....but thank you all for your wisdom.....found some other posts with the same problem and will try all options.....Happy Motoring !

From the looks of that photo, the screws are in the carpet or under.. along the edge. If you get under the rig, they should be visible.

Looks like you have a similar setup to what I have in my 2002 Pace Arrow. If so this is what you will see if you remove the carpet.
My doghouse does not have a removable "hatch" on the top. The entire thing has to come up for engine access.
Cheers,
Wayne

Thank you Wayne......That is probably what I will be encountering.....I may just modify my cover to make it easier to remove in the future.....I will keep everyone posted on how it goes.

If it’s like ours was, gently (as you can) peel the carpet back. Way back on the sides. I found the cover’s flange was screwed down with about a dozen screws, and then silicone caulk had been applied over the entire lip, effectively burying all those screws. Get that silicone gone, and the screws will be simple to access. When I reinstalled the cover, I just placed the cover back in place and then laid the carpet back over the cover’s flange. No screws or silicone. With the weight of the cover and the carpet covering the lip, it stays in place very well. No exhaust seepage issues.

2005 southwind 37c dog house
There are screws under carpet . Mine has screws all the way up both sides and around back side. It is also silicone down. Excuse the mess in photos redoing carpet. Hope this helps
