Well, the lesson learned is don't get distracted when flushing the black tank...

End of the day, getting ready to leave next morning, decided to flush the black tank. I do it routinely. I usually, empty then start the flush, then close the valve fill it up around 3/4 empty and repeat a few times. This time, I was on the second rinse and I got the valved closed, and started putting the bikes on the rear rack.

In case you didn't know, with the valve closed and the tank full, the only place for the water to go is UP and out the vent pipe on the roof. Luckily, it was after the first rinse, so it wasn't much more than water. Nonetheless, lesson learned, not doing that again.

One other place it CAN go......blow thru the toilet seal and FLOOD inside of RV

That is a whole lot of rinsing for a 'holding tank'

Fill/dump/flush toilet 2X---repeat next time camping

You aren't the first or the last to do that. I [eventually] learned to leave the black dump valve at least partially open so as to avid nasty mistakes. There is no need to fill the tank - the sprayers will do the rinsing. It's not going to be super-clean no matter what you do...

Yep, did that just a few weeks ago

! Luckily, like you I was on my third or 4th flush, so water was pretty clean. Discovered my full light on black tank level panel isn't reliable!
I am happy Monaco installed the tank vents on the opposite side of the coach from the wet bay! They probably knew this would happen

!!

I did a similar thing but fortunately my wife was in the coach and informed me of the problem. Loudly I might add.

I almost always empty and flush the tanks here at home. I have learned that if I start to drink a 12 oz. beer, the bottom of the bottle/can will indicate about the right time to pull the valve and flush again. The timing is almost perfect. I think that might even be why beer comes in 12 oz. containers

Makes sense to me!
Just beware: You have to have the cold one on hand! Turning on the water then driving to the cold beer store, won't work

Happens to me when someone comes up and starts a conversation....I learned that it's best to just shut the water off. Also happens sometimes when I launch the boat.

Since my tank gauges are far from accurate I bought this hose-end water meter to know how much I'm putting in. Cheap, easy to use, and I can still enjoy a beer while the water's running. [emoji16]

I hate getting distracted. It never fails , every time I get the Coach ready for a trip I have a specific to do list in my head and here comes a nosey neighbor or phone call or some other distraction and Im left wondering , was that trans fluid ok or was that inside tire pressure checked ? This is why I start early before anyone else is up.
