Electrical issues

Have a 2012 expedition that has had elec problems in the past but now I have no 12v power even though it is plugged in. Have 120v power. Start the engine and 12v power comes back until engine is shut down. Switch by the door clicks but will not turn on power. Did this before and took into the shop, they had it 5 days and it never messed up once for them. Been camping 2 times since with no problems. Really need the Pros on this site to point me in a direction to solve this. Thanks

Hmmm? Normally, I'd suggest the automatic transfer switch, but reading your description of the issue, again, I don't know? It's not the (so called) saleman's switch. Kind of crazy that it never messed up for the techs that you took it to. Maybe, low charged batteries? Batteries not connected securely? Issue with the inverter/converter? I'm not sure. I'm sorry that I'm not much help. I'd imagine that others on here will have more solid thoughts to consider, though. I've, usually, foung that answers that I was seeking, were found on this forum site. Hang in there.

No mention of what your house batteries are. More specifically if they are charged? and what voltage they are at.
My take is it is something in the BCC.
There is a troubleshooting guide for it on iRV2 in this forum. Just do a search for it.

Your batteries are run down so low that the inverter/charger will not charge.

Start the engine with shore power plugged in and the chassis battery and charging system will bring your house batteries up.
Once they come up above 10 volts, the house charging system will take over.

You need to find out why your house batteries are dropping so low.

Update

Found my problem. I was checking wiring from relays and moved some wires and saw a small spark. Shook everything but could not get another spark. Finally moved the ground wires bolted to chassis on top of electrical compartment and sure enough the bolt was not tight. Was not flopping loose but loose enough. Took it apart, wire brushed all terminal lugs, replaced the nut and made sure it was tight. No problems after that.
Thanks to all that replied.
