Electrical Issues

Unbeknown to me, the batteries in my 2017 Fleetwood Discovery went bad. Both the house and chassis batteries. I replaced them all with quality batteries which isn’t the issue, the issue is, everything seems to be working as they should, except for two important things. My inverter/charger is working as it should, and my house generator is working as it should, and they are running and lighting everything as they should be, but when I start and run my coach, the microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, and probably other things don’t work or shut off! My Magnum ME-RVC Bridge is throwing a “fault” light, which I can’t seem to get to go out or reset or anything. I “feel” this component may have gone bad when the batteries went bad. My Firefly system where I turn on my lights and basically run my coach from, is giving me some problems also. I think these two components, the ME-RVC Bridge and my Firefly system are tied together which would make sense. I don’t care to buy the components, if I just knew for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know anything specific about your problem. However, I can't count the number of times folks have posted on here about problems after replacing batteries and the culprit turns out to be a wire left unconnected or reconnected improperly.

Hi Michael. When you say your inverter/Charger works fine did you actually disconnect shore power to verify that the inverter will provide 120VAC to the appliances like refrig, tv, etc.? When you are connected to shore power or running the generator, the AC to the appliances is really coming from the inverter's AC “external AC pass-thru” relay. Your problem May just be that the inverter needs to be restarted.
The ME-RVC bridge is just a small box that has a modular CAT 6 style cable that connects the Magnum Inverter/Charger proprietary network, MAGNet, to the Firefly RV-C network. You can find it in the basement near the inverter. However I doubt that the RV-C bridge is the problem. The only connections between the Magnum inverter and your batteries that could have been reinstalled incorrectly is the heavy 12V + and - cables and (maybe) a small battery temp sensor.
My bet is that the inverter needs to be restarted.

The RV-C bridge is the communication device between the Fire Fly and the inverter. Are you sure the inverter is turned ON? You can also do a re-set on the inverter and on the RV-C bridge, I would do a re-set on both.

Can you turn the inverter ON or OFF (enable/disable) with the Fire Fly? The input ports for the telephone plug are rather fragile and both broke loose from the circuit board on my RV-C bridge and quit working. I could still operate the inverter but had to go to the inverter to turn it on. At the time, there weren't replacement bridges available, so I had to repair mine, still works fine today.

I understand things not working but what’s gets me is something’s don’t turn off.

If things worked before, my opinion something is not hooked up correctly.

I think for the most part, you were right! Although my inverter/charger were working fine with the generator and shore line, it wasn’t working with my coach “running only”. So I reset the inverter, with the coach running, and it started up as it’s suppose to, and is now running my appliances! I can’t explain that, but all I know is it’s working now in all three conditions, coach running, generator, and shore line! Thanks for your help and input.

My inverter would work with my generator or my shore line hooked up, but wouldn’t work with the coach running only. Don’t understand it, but I reset my inverter or turned it on, or whatever you want to say with the engine running, and it’s now working properly! This after I tore my batteries out again for about the “umteenth” time to check their connections. But my RE-RVC Bridge is still flashing a fault! Don’t know whether to be to concerned or not, although I would like to see that fault light go out! Thanks for your input.

Maybe try REV technical assistance or Magnum technical assistance. I have used both and both are good.

Just a thought about what may have caused your problem. My 2019 has what's referred to as a "big red switch" which disconnects the battery power line from the inverter. Did you disconnect the battery powerline from the inverter while you were changing batteries? If not, it could have caused a fault in the inverter.

Michael M. The ME-RVC fault light is coded to tell you what the fault is. It should flash 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 blinks and then a pause. Then it should repeat. Do you know how many blinks yours is doing before the pause and repeat?
