Entry door won't latch

The Tri-Mark 30-900 entry door latch in my 2008 Bounder 35H will not latch unless I slam the door very hard. It started doing this about 2 months ago and I found that the actuation lever in the latch had worn the threads smooth on the rod. I added a nut behind the nylock locking nut to move it to good threads but it really didn't help. If I don't slam the door it jumps open to the secondary latching position. Is it time for a new latch or is there a way to fix the problem? I have soaked the latch in dry silicone to attempt to loosen it but that didn't seem to help.

the latch should be adjustable. either the lock itself should be able to move up and down a few inches or the stud. Without seeing, its hard to tell, but try and use a big wrench and carefully turn the stud, some will actually move up / down /in /out as you turn it. if its solid and non-adjustable turn to the latch. loosen the 2-4 screws on the side of the door above and below the latch and slide up/down as needed. If it needs to move in/out you may have to shim or grind as needed.
