Exhaust rebuild

Hello everyone
Well I'm in the process of rebuilding my exhaust on this cat C7. Cost a little more that I expected. I had a muffler strap break and when I checked it I found a lot of rusted parts so replacing it all. I did go with stainless parts because of the rust, and an Areo 5050xl muffler, so that added some to the price. Sitting about $1000 just for parts in case anyone is thinking about doing the same.

Keith,

Please make sure to post progress pictures for those that may need/want to do this in the future. Good luck!

I had the tailpipe rusted out and hanging, and the muffler wired up with both straps broken. The muffler was thin, and the rest was rusty but solid enough. I took the muffler brackets off, rebuilt the straps, hung the muffler back up, and added a new (welded out of used tailpipe in the junk pile). Not as nice as SS, but if I get another 30 years out of it, I might do SS next time! Besides, I wasn't sure if I'd want to do a muffler delete at some point.

Well I got it all done. Still have to do the hangers but waiting on a impact wrench I ordered to arrive. Sorry about the pictures, that's just something I never think of. Basically I just replaced the down pipe from the exhaust brake on, added a 90° and then a Areo 5050xl muffler and the original exhaust pipe on our. I'll try to remember to get a picture tomorrow and post it.
