Expedition Battery question

we just bought a new to us 2006 Fleetwood Expedition 38L. it has 3 12V coach batteries which seems odd to me, can anyone tell me what it came with originally? we moved up from a class C V-10 it originally came with 1 12V and I switched it to 2 trojan T105 6V. thanks for the help and great forum.

I guess I'm mostly curious what everyone else uses. We will mostly be boondocking. 2 6v worked in the class c so should I keep the 3 12v or go 4 6v or ? Thanks

If the 3, 12 volt batteries are OK, stay with them.

If its time for replacement, go with 4, 6 volt batteries. They are real deep cycle, and good for over 1000 cycles to 50% discharge and 500 cycles, down to 70% discharge.

The 12 volt Marine/RV batteries are good for 500 to maybe 700 cycles to 50% discharge, and maybe 200 if down to 70% discharge.

Everybody will say you can't go below 50% but that's just chatter. Read the specs on any deep cycle battery for the real story.

I have a 2005 expedition 38N. It has 4 12v batteries. Not sure it makes a difference unless you plan to use battery power for long periods....

Most any set of 4 6v's GC2's will yield 440-460 Amp-Hours, so ought to be fine for off-grid camping. I'm a Trojan fan, but golf car abtteries are pretty much a commodity so I would shop for the best price. Sams Club and Coistco are good if you are a member of either.

Our 08 Expedition has 4 6V batteries. Ours are mounted in the last storage bay on the driver's side and each battery sits in it's own tray. How/where are your batteries mounted?

this sounds like the way mine should be. they are mounted in the same location as yours but I think the previous owner changed them over to 12v and put wood spacers in to make up the difference of dropping 1 battery. I found a spare tray today so I think when I replace the batteries I will go back to 4 6v batteries. thanks
