Factory tours, Decatur, IN

For anyone who has an interest in seeing how Fleetwood products are manufactured, the factory tour offered in Decatur, IN is an excellent look inside their facility.
My Wife and I were booked into the Fleetwood Service facility this past week for some minor service issues and decided to take our second tour of the plant.
Our guide Tom, was a very knowledgable, long service employee that made the experience so enjoyable.
You get right onto the shop floor and there were no areas "off limits".
My wife said she enjoyed our second tour even better than the first.
The Service facility offers overnight RV parking with 50 amp service at n/c and it is very professionally run.
The booking time for service runs at least 8 weeks out, so you need to plan for this.

We enjoyed our factory tour we took many years ago. Then recently we had the golden opportunity to take the tour again, but this time with our middle school granddaughter. I figured it would be a great opportunity to show her physics and math at work. The tour didn't happen, because she was not 16 years old. In my opinion Fleetwood is missing a good opportunity to educate future purchaser at a age where they are making life decisions.

We ended up taking the Newmar factory tour and she has their brochures for King Aire telling her friends "This is what I want to buy someday"!

Thanks JimB, good info. I really want to do a trip up that way and tour Fleetwood and Newmar specifically. Also, I understand there is a good RV history museum in the area as well.

That would be the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Indianna.
Been through it a couple of times and it is excellent.
Look it up on You Tube.
You can dry camp on their lot over night and the whole town is built around the RV industry.
Can't wait to go back at some point.
Enjoy.
