first RV

I finally pulled the plug today on my first RV. I have been researching motorhomes for many months and I have traveled many miles and seen many Rvs and had many disappointments. I have seen water leaks, generators do not work, old tires, dirty carpets, hydraulic leaks, engine oil leak, etc,,,,wow.
My new motorhome is a 2006 bounder 32W, with no water leaks, 2 years old tires, very well maintained, 33000 miles, nice paint, clean carpets. Price was $24000. is it fair price? what kind of maintenance should I do?

Welcome to IRV2! And yes, from what you describe and have pictured, you got a good deal.
You may still need some upgrades or replacing of electronics and such, but hanging around IRV2 there are plenty of Moho supporters to any issues your may have.

I’m not sure you could buy a 2006 mini van for that price… so yeah that was a good deal.

I suggest you contact the Rev group (Fleetwood) and see if they can deliver ALL the schematics to you. I did that for my Bounder and it had been great. They will send you a huge .zip file with everything.

I would get the chassis manual and get a handle on the recommended for fluids and so on. If you cant confirm when it was done then do it now. I write on the filters the date and mileage with a sharpie.I would have the oil sampled so you have a baseline and any recommendations from the lab . I use Blackstone labs. The manual will list wheel bearing, suspension brakes, drivline differential power steering ect. everyone here will help you and you will not regret it.

Looks and sounds like you got a nice one! Congrats on your RV. Don’t worry about the price. It’s yours now.

Nice price! If it has a passenger side bedroom slide, check the two 3/8 inch taper head bolts that anchor the slide cylinder. You have to pull up the plywood under the bed to get at them. My cousin has a similar rig and we had to do an emergency repair in Whitehorse on his last Summer. The bolts fell out and the slide wouldn't go back in. Luckily we got it pushed almost all the way in and made it to Whitehorse and fixed it there.

Just a heads up.

Ford chassis. I want to thank you all for the warm responses. I couldn't have asked for a better beginning to my first RV experience.

When I buy a used vehicle and unless it came with good records, I will replace all fluids and do a detailed check of the chassis compenents to serve as new baseline.

I also spend time early to crawl through the water, drain 12 volt and 120 volt power systems to understand how they all work while they are still working. It is much easier to trouble shoot things when you understand how they work in normal conditions. I also like to label all cable ends and water lines I can find. Makes life simpler when things go wrong at bad times. It is always at a bad time!

Yes get all of the manuals for everything you can, the chassis and all of the RV's appliances and other parts. Just understand that an RV is a home on wheels that is bumping and rocking along highways. Stuff is going to break and fail.

Congratulations and all the very best of luck. I bought my first used RV earlier in 2023 and while it has been quite a learning curve we have really enjoyed the life so far.
I found most manuals were available on line and keep a separate folder on my phone in case I need something while on the road.

Also don’t forget to look at the hoses and fittings and carry a spare drive belt. Have fun.

Install a new belt. Keep the old belt for the spare. It's easier to replace the belt at your chosen time and place than sitting on the side of the highway. That will also familiarize you with the procedure and the tools required.
