First trip out with ole girl.
Well, I took my first trip with the RV this week. After making countless repairs for the last 2 months, I was sure SOMETHING was gonna break on the way or way back. BUT, she made it from Florida to the mountains in North Carolina and back.....1200 miles.....never skipped a beat. I was pretty proud of her. I haven't really done anything to the engine besides a service, and was expecting to lose a hose or a belt....something...but all went good. I did experience a "burp" a couple times. 2 times on the way up, and about 10 times on the way home. When I hit a good bump in the road, A dash light would come on, "Do not Shift" and I would lose all throttle response. It only does it for a split second. It does it so fast , I couldn't even catch what it said, til about the 3rd or 4th time it came on. Anybody ever have that light up??? Aside from that issue, she did great. Even turned my heaters on up there. 1 works and 1 does not. Right before we left to go, I had a new inverter installed and 2 new front air bags with a alignment. The guy who installed the air bags said the rears were as bad as the fronts, but I wasn't worried about losing a rear bag as much as losing a front bag. The rears held up. their next to be replaced. And all my air leaks. It only holds air for about an hour. Slowly but surely I'm bringing her back. While I was in NC, me and my daughter installed a new 40" TV up front. I averaged about 9.7 MPG, which is about average, I guess, with my 1997 Fleetwood Discovery with the 5.9 cummins. That's doing 70 MPH all the way up and back. I got the feeling I was driving an antique after seeing all the $300,000 RV's on the road. But hey, She's just as good to me, and the title is in my file cabinet.
