Fleetwood American Coach "moving" steps

I have a 2000 Diesel American Coach (getting old). The step is starting to wobble a bit and I'm wondering if there are any repair methods that have been used to "tighten" it up and get rid of the wobbling. A new set is very expensive. I would consider a used one also.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks,
Larry

I want to add that the step is a KWIKEE but that is about all I know.

With the steps extended crawl underneath and look for a label up near the motor. Please also post a pic of the steps.

Lippert bought the Kwikee product line years ago. Hopefully you can find the documentation here: https://support.lci1.com/kwikee-steps

I had the same problem on our 2019 Series 25 triple steps and literally just yesterday repaired them. Lippert used these giant rivets as pivot points for the steps and the arms and that was a metal-on-metal problem just waiting to wear out. And it did, in a few years. I ground/drilled out all sixteen of the giant rivets and replaced them with shoulder bolts and bronze bushings for the bolt shoulder to rotate inside of.

They're almost back to feeling new. Stepping on the left side of the bottom step would cause that corner to sag an inch and a half. Now it's less than one-half inch. The steps also have far less lateral shift when walking up or down them. So it can be done.

Ray, Thank you for that great suggestion. I had not thought of shoulder bolts. I am going to work on all your suggestions today (barring a snow storm). I will remove the step system, and take some pictures and post them.

Thanks again,
Larry
