For sale in our town . It's the VS model 40ft 350 Cummins. Has new MICH tires and 103,00 miles. Pai t looks good has a bra/cover on front. The folks are asking 59,000.00. Any opinions,comments and or info will be helpful. Thanks Steve

irv2 has an Owners forum and in that forum is a sub-forum for Fleetwood products and in **that** forum is an American Dream / Eagle thread ... i bet those folks have the knowledge you're looking for.

if you haven't been in there yet, i'd beat feet to see what they have to say.

The Dream is a lovely coach, so if the condition is as good as you say it is probably a good choice. The price is somewhat high for that year & brand, but not out of the question for one in prime condition. Do your homework and see if it is worth the price.

I thought the 40DVS had a 325 Cummins ISC, but maybe they were upgraded to the 350 version later in the model year.

I looked at a 1998 American Dream before I bought my Eagle, I do think they
came with the 325hp, but easy to get another 50HP out of it.
I think that year had a rubber roof and the 1999 had fiberglass like the Eagles. I agree the price is a little high, book is around 40k but good luck finding a clean one at that price. Let's see some pictures..

As the owner of a 2000 Eagle 40VS purchased three years ago, I would think that the Dream you are talking about should be less than $50,000. Probably the range of $40-45,000 being closer to normal. Do your research and Search for similar units for sale, there are several units close to that.

Additionally I might add an opinion. With RV's of this age condition means everything. You need to be mechanically capable to handle items that need repair. If you are not reasonably mechanical and must have others handle most repairs, an RV of this age will be trouble for you.

The 98 American Coaches came with a Cummins 8.3 mechanical engine with 325 Hp. I have the Eagle model of that year. The mechanical engines horsepower is easily boosted, and can be boosted to 450 Hp. They are great coaches if they have been taken care of. I do agree that it is a high price as the others before me. I paid a higher price for mine, due to it great condition.
I do agree with Dale70 that if you are not mechanicaly inclined then you either need lots of spare cash or find a newer one. The do need a lot of attention. It is not nice to be broken down on the side of the Hwy.

Ditto ! Price $42 K tops in near perfect condition with all of the Maint. Records from day 1.

Question I have the Cummins 8.3 in my 96 Eagle and what can be done to boost HP? mine I believe has 300hp from factory 113,000 miles on it

96Eagle; the best way is to have a fuel plate installed or have the current fuel plate modified to give you more Hp. The other way is to modify your trubo to get more boost. The old mechanical Cummins (8.3) engines are more reliable than the new electronic engines. I may get a backlash on this comment. lol
