I have been visiting other sites on the net. To inform them of the water in the air-intake problem,Newmar coach's are having on the W-22 chassie. Well it didn't take very long for me to find out some of our other buddies on irv2 are having this same problem. I have gone thru some of your posts an not noticed many on this subject. I can't say that's true at the other web sites. If you haven't all ready,I invite you to the Newmar owners post "workhorse power downs RAIN WATER" Since I have post the fix for this problem last week,from all sites the hits are going to reach 2000 before this nite is over, it has really increased since I did the test Wednesday. If you have friends that don't visit the web. let them know about "THE FIX" ---THANK-YOU ALL---"007"

I have a pace arrow 2004 and noticed water collecting in the intake. I called the dealer and he called fleetwood and they are sending out a "baffle kit" for the dealer to install. they responded very fast, 2 days from email to e mail.

Newmar had something similer that closed the air intake by 1/2. "PairoDocs" Had the kit put on his air intake an it didn't work. You can find this information under Workhorse Owners post "its happening again @#%^&^& " pg. 5. I had him put in the weather strip to plug up the upper crack of hood opening.----"007"

I have a Soutwind 04 and noticed that water could be forced into the intake. But I also noticed at the bottom of the intake tube there is a drain, that must be working since I have not had a problem with rain or wash water.

All Workhorse chassie's have this same rubber drain but the Newmar coach is taking in more water then the nipple can expell. If your upper crack of hood opening is narrow enough maybe you will not injest enough water to activate the senser behind the air filter. Plus your air intake may be higher then the upper crack not allowing alot of water. Driving in a down pour just check it out, make sure the air tube is dry. Good Luck---"007"

Fleetwood,Newmar have been issuing a cap or cover for the air-intake tube, from what people say these covers cut down air-intake by 1/2.Will this effect gas mileage,or the engine in some way? I always thought the more air the better. Does anyone have answer?---"007"

I believe that you said in your report that the bulb gasket is holding the water back. If this is the case then there wouldn't be a need to restrict the air intake.

I have not had any problem with my 2004 Pace Arrow (and I have driven in some heavy rain). If a cap is necessary, I would suggest a self made hood that creates a "roof" along the top edge of the intake, rather than reducing the intake size.

Owners of Fleetwood 04 Southwinds will need to do something about water entering there air-intake tube. It can apply for anyone that has this problem. I have made up a post explaining what you can do if you drive in rainy weather, down in the Workhorse Owners Forum. Oemtech also has some pictures showing how weather strip is installed.
