Fleetwood Owners with Diamond Shield

Hey Fleetwood Owners!
Can you guys please chime in regarding Diamond Shield Clear Bra on my Discovery?
I hate the way my Diamond Shield looks and I think I want to remove it to get the beautiful paint look back.
Have any of you removed your clear bra?
If so.....how should I do it?

Gotta love the dirt and wax line! Sorry no help here. I have a Summit products body block now, hate the plastic diamond shield glad I don't have it anymore.

I love my diamond shield. Just keep it waxed and no streaks or yellowing.
Think of how many chips you'd have without it!

Here's a link to some previous threads discussing removal. Good luck with it.

If it is still in good shape do not remove. Just apply plastic wax and it will make a difference for sure. I have been using meguires plastic wax for the last 3 years on my 2008 bounder and it really looks great.

My Diamond Shield got pretty ratty looking after 4 years. I removed it using a hard plastic scrapper and 3M adhesive remover. That scraper looks like a small Bondo scraper, but is harder. Experimented with a heat gun, but found that sunlight was the best heat gun. Not mid day however. Took a bunch of hours and I lost some paint where there was rock impact indentations on the shield. I then had the front painted. That was a little pricey, but it looks great now. I have seen it removed with almost no paint damage, but maybe they did not have the chip marks as bad as mine. The Diamond Shield people gave me a quote of $1,200 to remove on site, but that was over a year ago. They would not guarantee the paint if they removed the shield.

Yours is 1 year newer than mine and it's in great shape. The problem with them is people will use something abrasive to clean bugs and stuff and ruin it. Use no yellow wax and soft cloths you might try plas-x or something like that you can get at Walmart. Saw one that the owner used a scotch brite pad wow what a mess. It will be a safe bet if you remove it you'll have paint damage.

My wife and I recently bought our first MH. Thank you for the information on proper wax for the clear bra treatments. Any thoughts on the old syle black bra installations? I don't mind the look and thought the older style would protect the paint better and I would be less hesitant to scrub the bugs. I am in no way ready to drill the front of the new coach to install snaps or turn clips but would like to know the best method of protecting the front from stone damage.

Our DS is doing fine...and keeps the rock chips off the front of the coach.

Love our DS! We use Rejex, keeps it polished, water sheds off easily as well as dreaded love bugs!

Do you use Rejex on the Diamond Shield?
I've got two bottles of Rejex but haven't applied it to anything yet. I've been wondering if it's safe to put over the DS.

Based on everything that I have read, I decided not to remove mine and use Rejex to try to save the look I have now (as bad as it is). However, due to damage that happened when I was not in the rig, I am now getting it removed and not replaced. My understanding is, as mentioned above, the real problem is if there has been rock damage, the DS holds the chipped paint in place, once you remove the DS, the paint chip comes with it. I have not heard of anyone who has removed it without needing paint work. Anyway, the job was started and I needed the coach back so I have to take it back for the job to be finished. The area started did not have paint damage but there was plenty of residual glue that needs to be cleaned up. I talked to the tech who has done this before and he said it was a real pain to remove it. If you search the forums there are a lot of posts about removing DS. None very promising.
