Exclamation Fleetwood Recalls 1985-2012

Fleetwood Bounder 1985-2012 - car safety information, failing parts, recalls, bulletins, complaints

Fleetwood RV is recalling certain model year 2010 Bounder, Bounder Classic, Fiesta, Southwind and Terra Class A motor homes manufactured from March 11, 2010 through March 30, 2010. These motor homes were built on Workhorse Custom Chassis and with General Motors gasoline engines and equipped with Remy alternator. A low resistance electrical short in the alternator’s voltage regulator may occur. An electrical short in the alternator may occur without warning possibly resulting in a vehicle fire. Dealers will inspect and replace the alternator if necessary free of charge. Owners may contact Navistar/Workhorse at 1-877-246-7731.

Fleetwood RV is recalling certain model year 2010 Discovery model 40G and 40X class a motor homes manufactured from November 25, 2009 through January 8, 2010 for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.” The seat belts located on the sofa bed may not be adequately mounted for effective occupant restraint. Lack of adequate seat belt protection increases the risk of personal injury in the event of a crash. Dealers will inspect the sofa bed seat belt mountings and if necessary reinstall them to a floor-mounted location. This service will be performed free of charge. The safety recall began on May 31, 2010. Owners may contact Fleetwood RV at 1-800-509-3418.

Fleetwood RV is recalling certain model year 2010 Encounter and model year 2011 Storm Class A motor homes manufactured from December 16, 2009 through May 26, 2010. An emergency egress window was not installed in the road side bedroom wall. In the event of a fire or other emergency, persons in the bedroom area must exit through the door side bedroom emergency egress window or through the forward entry door. If the entry door and the door side bedroom emergency egress windows are blocked, there is no way out of the motor home increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will remove the existing road side window and replace it with an emergency egress window. This service will be performed free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during July 2010. Owners may contact Fleetwood Owner Relations at 800-509-3418.

Fleetwood Recalls

Thanks so much for the information on the 2010 Fleetwood Bounder, just got my brake recall in the mail Friday and it is already in the shop for a slide leak, inverter/converter problem, and struts broken under the bed and now possibly the alternator. We have only been able to take one trip since we bought it in 5/10.

Can you believe I still do not have my new RV back which I bought in 5/10. Took it to Bankston's in Huntsville, Alabama four weeks ago after Fleetwood would not honor the warranty for the problems for a dealer closer to my home to fix it after being there three weeks. Then took Bankston several weeks to get Fleetwood to honor warranty on a new RV and now they got the part Monday and it was something they were to just plug in and here it is Thursday and not a word from them. It was my 50 year anniversary Friday and we bought a gold RV which we have used once. Had to rent a RV to make a trip. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a product and being married 50 years, we have bought a lot. I would never buy another Fleetwood product, Fleetwood is terrible and so are the dealers. Carl Black did have the decency to put us on the list to fix the brakes, but the brake man went on maternity leave, of course the RV is at Bankston anyway so maybe we will have it back when he is back from maternity leave. I am really mad.

Medical09, hard to believe the way some of this "stuff" in life happens. My wife and I have a theory: Whatever is happening to you now, was to prevent something REALLY bad from happening to you, during that time frame. I know, I know, BUT, you need some kind of theory to get you thru life. The odd thing is, we are on our 3rd FW in 6 1/2 years, and loved them all. Even thru their bankruptcy, they honored our warranty on the Providence. Go figure. Best of luck, Robbie

Are you saying you bought a brand spanking new 2010 FW motorhome and FW won't honor the warranty? I wonder what the other side of this story could be.

Finally got the RV back and took it to Carl Black for the brake recall after I was called to bring it in. Got there with it and poor communication between the employees I guess, they could not find my name on the list. Finally someone that had checked the air conditioner earlier came around and told the people we had been waiting long enough and took it in and I got it back in two days. Yay. Maybe we will get to take one trip before winterizing it. And yes it is a brand new 2010 and I cannot imaging what the back story would be except poor service from Fleetwood.
