On my recent trip to Bowling Green we realized that the front cabinet across the front is dropping from the ceiling. All the screws across the front have pulled out of the ceiling, I'm sure from road bounce. On trying to refasten I seem to find there is nothing up there for the screw to catch. They ar all stripped out or broken off.
My question is were these screws puthere to pull the ciling down to the cabinet because the entire cabinet seems secure as not to fall.
We took the heavy Panasonic TV out and I plan to replace it with a Flat Panel.
Has this happened to anyone else? and what was your remedy?
I haven't had time yet to really get down and dirty with this yet since getting back from vacation.
If you have replaced your front TV what did you use and how did you retrofit?
All suggestions welcomed and appreciated.

Sounds like something you'll have to take apart and put back together. It'll be put together better than before. Take some pictures when you begin the journey.

I have always been afraid of that big heavy TV pulling down my cabinets so I replaced mine with a 26" LCD.

I haven't had a lot of time to research the front cabinet area due to some other issues right now with family.
What I can tell so far is that the front TV cabinet must be very well secured to the front nose and to the sides of the coach. No matter how I've pulled on this thing it seems to have dropped no further, the same as with trying to get it back up in position.

At present I cannot see or tell what those front screws were holding into and with the weight attached you think Fleetwood (the old version) would have used something better there than 1" drywall screws.

Sandcar, with an 06 Excursion I would have thought that they would have had a flat panel there from the beginning.!

I used a Sanyo 26" - fit in perfectly. Loosen 3 screws plus the outer trim and just pull the new one out.

Look at the roof from above and outside--if there's a water leak it could have caused deterioration of the wood so the screws that hold everything in place to come loose. It happened to a friend of mine.

screws will not hold in your roof. Fleetwoods fix is to use rivets and L brackets. Remove your TV and use rivets into the ceiling and screws in the sidewall. I put up 7 L brackets with 14 rivets, a little overkill but I didn't want to remove my new flat screen tv again. Make sure you jack up the cabinet before riveting. I've been down the bad freeways since and it hasn't budged. Tried the screw route about 3 times and kept seperating.

I have an '05 Bounder 36Z and the same thing happened, when I removed the
heavy 27" to install a 32" LCD. Mine wasn't as bad as yours, I was able to remove the screws one at a time and stuck wood match sticks soaked in Elmers glue into the hole. Give it a few minutes to firm up and replace the screw, I did that two years ago and it hasn't budged since.

I spoke with the dealer a little while ago and he informed me that there is a piece of aluminum strut up there. Of course the original screws were too small and pulled out. I'm going to try and use oversized screws in the original holes but I'm going to coat them with Liquid Nails. Of course the original Tv is not going back in there again and will be replaced with a 32" Vizio LCD flat Panel.

I have an 04 Pace Arrow and used a 32" Samsung. I noticed while I was up there that there was no insulation, I was looking at the back side of the fiberglass front cap! I need to go back in there so I will put some insulation all the way across. I have not had any pull down problems but I changed the TVs out at 3000 miles. That CRT TV was heavy!

Mine has been rebuilt.. Its not even attached to the front cap. Is this normal? (I know mines a Gulfstream....). Its just a rubber seal as a frction fit. It is secured at the top and sides. There also is no insulation on the front cap, as above.. whats the recommendation on type of insulation?
