Fuel gauge not working on my bounder

Hello Friends.

Afraid to hear what y'all have to say on this age old question. We purchases a new to us 2004 Fleetwood Bounder 35B RV. Low miles and well kept and we lover her.
When we got her, we were informed that the fuel gauge did not work and they didnt discover it till they filled it with fuel. A local dealership. No way anyone wants to drain it to drop it so my first step is to determine if its a fuel sender, bad wire or ground to the dash gauge or some kind of fuse that is out. Any suggestions on where to start my search would be appreciated. I am getting under her first to check to see if I can see top of fuel tank to check the wire to the sending unit and the ground first. Then I open to you wonderful suggestions.

Thank you .,

I have to ask if your coach is built on a Freightliner chassis, because the fuel tank , and gauge package and related wiring are part of the chassis package.

I have the gauge testing info for my vintage of F/L chassis ; unfortunately they changed systems in 03, so it wouldn't be of use to you.

If your coach is on a F/L chassis then call the Freightliner Free help line with your serial number for info on testing your fuel gauge.

If you're on an F53 chassis, this may help .

This is an article when I replaced the fuel pump. Yours should be similar.

Here is a wiring diagram for my fuel gauge circuit, yours should be similar.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

When you find out, you may want to put that info in your "Signature" line. (look at the bottom of my postings to see my signature line)

You will find Signature line under the "User CP" tab look near the top of the page for the tabs.
