Furnace 2nd one not working
Hello all I have a 2012 Fleetwood discovery 40x. When I turn the thermo to zone 2 gas heat only one of the two Furances comes on. On the thermo zone two is the only one with an option for gas heat zone 3 has Elec heat (which isn't very good) and Zone 1 doesn't have a heat option at all. Any idea on how to reset the 2nd unit and or how to get it to kick on? We are about to travel to some colder climates for a few days and are concerned it might need the extra boost. Thanks ALL

I think you said zone 2 says gas heat on your thermostat. That means zone 2 will work just like home, set it to the temp you want and it will heat to that temp. Your zone 3 says electric heat, that means you have a heat pump. Heat pumps will warm the air, not necessarily hat it. They also will only work when the outside temp is above 40 degrees. Obviously zone 1 in your coach is only air conditioning. You can use your gas furnace in combination with your heat pump but once the outside temp gets under 40 you are relying on your zone 2 main furnace.

thanks
When in Gas mode should both furnaces be on? The coach has two one towards the middle and one towards the front both look exactly the same but only one seems to be working.

Each furnace will have a thermostat one for rear and one up front for forward furnace.

I have only found one main one up front? The owners manual doesn't mention any other one, and that one seems to control all three zone.

Heat pumps will heat the air, but the output temp is lower than body temp so it will feel colder than the furnace. And they will work down into the low 30's although they do become less efficient.
Have had them for 40 years in stick houses and RV's. Very economical around this area with moderate temps.

So you are saying you have two independent gas furnaces?

Yes two furnaces, one is back by the rear tires and the other up by the refrigerator both look exactly the same but only one comes on and no air comes from the ducts that are closest to that unit.

Select zone one, then hit the mode switch. Should come up with AC, hit again should come up fan only, hit again should come up with elect heat and once more should bring up gas heat.

I would be willing to bet there is a second thermostat somewhere. I doubt the two run off the same one. You could try having someone turn the one thermostat on and then listen by the second unit to try and hear if it is trying to fire at the same time the other one is. That would at least tell you if it's run off the same zone

Stuhly is correct. I have the same set up but with 2 furnaces, 2 heat pumps and 1 stat. Select the zone (#1) then cycle through the mode until you get to gas. If you select gas, the heat pump will be locked out. If you leave the front zone on heat pump, the heat pump will be first stage and gas will be second stage. Meaning that if the heat pump can't keep up and the space temp continues to drop, the furnace will automatically come on to raise the temp within 2 degrees of the setting, then drop out so the heat pump finish raising the temp to your setting.

Zone 1 does not have any options when hitting the mode button when the switch is set to heat. Zone 2 lists heat (gas) heat (elec). Zone 3 only lists heat Elec...all three zones have AC options
