Gas mileage?

How much difference in gas milege can I be looking at if I change to towing a 2013 Ford 4x4 verses a 1998 Ford Ranger stick shift 5spd. I have a 2017 V10 Bounder model 35K
and currently tow the 1998 Ranger. there has to be a difference but does anyone have an idea, my 2017 V10 Bounder only has 2500 miles on it so far.
thanks

Probably a difference, but not enough to be measurable outside a laboratory.

X2

I previously towed a 99 Ranger 2x4, about 3500 lbs and now tow a 16 Canyon 4x4 about 5000 lbs

Don't see any difference, avg 7.5 pretty much all the time

I tow a 2015 Colorado at 4400# behind a 36P and get about 7. Have towed several different cars and trucks behind 3 different gas RV's, all got about the same. Any difference is not enough to be concerned about in my opinion

I have the '16 35K and tow a '14 JEEP Wrangler Unlimited and get about 7 sometimes a bit more-all depends on the terrain.

Maybe a tenth or two max

If you really want to know compare the weight of each vehicle, then add however much weight is needed to the ranger to bring it up to the newer ford. Drive a route with the ranger stock and again with it loaded up and compare the mpg. You would also need to do this on a day where the wind is the same both days since that can have a much bigger effect of fuel economy then what your pulling.

I dropped approx .5 mpg pulling a wrangler unlimited behind my bounder 38p, however 3-4mpg variance depending on travel speed and wind speed.
