Generator Start Kit While On Shore Power

Coach has an Onan Marquis Gold 5500 Generator with a converter (not inverter) on board. Shore power cord either plugs into a wall receptacle to power through the generator or to a power pedestal at the CG. I’m interested in installing a start kit for this unit to provide power when power is lost at the pedestal. Not sure I can use one with the shore power cord plugged into the power pedestal at the CG and not the on board receptacle. Anyone that has a similar set up please let me know if you have installed the kit and if it works well. Thanks.

First, you will need to install an ATS ( automatic transfer switch ).
That gets wired in between the generator outlet and power cord.
An ATS will transfer power from the generator, when it is up and running.

Then get a AGS ( automatic generator start ) that will start the generator due to low voltage or high temperatures.

All you need is this for 30 amp power, OR this for 50 amp power, and this to start the generator.

The ATS can be installed right where the generator outlet sits.Click image for larger version
