Heater Hose 2000 Discovery

Getting ready to install new coolant & hoses, got the engine compartment hose #'s from FCC for the 300 ISB engine, but FCC advised that 5/8" standard heater hose is what they recommend and you can buy @ Auto Zone / O'Reilly's, etc. I am thinking about using a 5/8" marine grade hose. Any comments/thought?

If your planning on keeping the coach, spend the extra $, if your planning on trading in a few years, life span of the OEM stuff is 8+ years.

I do not know if there is any advantage to using marine hose but hose mfrs. have a HD hose. NAPA should have it. Probably a waste of $$. Once you get away from engine heat those hoses will likely be good for 10 years or more. You will have to "play" around with your cooling system to get all the air out of the system after replacing the hoses. Some HD shops have a special pump to remove air. I assume you are also changing the coolant.
