Oh my. Believe me when I tell you, I'm truly sorry that you had such an experience so early on, and I have pretty good idea how you must be feeling! Our Fleetwood Discovery is our second class A. Our first was a 35' gasser, and I had zero troubles driving that thing anywhere and everywhere. I felt pretty comfortable upgrading to this 40' diesel, but on our first trip with it I got myself into a dead end camp street (online map was outdated and it was a night time arrival). I managed to turn her around ALMOST perfectly... It was a series of back-forth turns (like a 7-pointer), and on the final backup, my rear passenger tire ran over the edge of a fire ring. That kicked up the opposite side of the fire ring and scratched about 10 feet of paint on that side, bent one aluminum door, and cracked adjacent fiberglass on the wheel well.
It cost my insurance company nearly $7500, and I lost 6 weeks of prime time camping. Lost a lot of pride too, but I'm a more cautious driver because of it.
Hang in there. Find a reputable repair facility and your Excursion will look as good as new, and you'll be back on the road again! (With a story to tell, to boot!)

Go on YouTube and search for RV Drivers Confidence Course by Lazydays. There are several videos that will help you understand how to drive a class A MH. Well worth reviewing IMO.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Sorry to hear you had such big trouble early on, but it sounds as though you are still in good spirits and I'd wager that whatever you might have done to rip the end cap off.... you won't do again.
There's a bridge leading to Cape Cod that still has about $6000 worth of my paint on it. So long as nobody gets hurt, we lick our wounds, hold our head up high, and move on.
Best of luck. We're glad you found us.
Rick

Ok, I was hoping someone else would ask this, but guess not. Did you really take 18 dogs with you?

Welcome! What an amazing experience! First, I'm glad you are not hurt, second, what a positive attitude! And third, did you and all the puppies have to jump in the tow truck?? Hahaha...I'm imagining all lickings the driver got if you did!
Again, glad your ok and happy to see you found the irv2 forum

yes I had Zoë, Jake, Jasper, Tucker,Lily,Flame, Bryce,Tater Tot ,Ruby, Quincy, Sweet Pea, Suzy Q, Sierra, Topaz, Velvet, Tiger, Sabrina , Opal,Pickles, Crackers When I left I didn't have Tiger or Quincy in WA they had finished their championship and were coming back home . I left Crackers to be shown . I guess I had more then I thought )) then I had the 5 white babies . Not names yet , when I am moving they are in crates on the floor then when I get to my place I take ex- pens out with a indoor carpet , so they don't leave there calling card and they all get to go in there and play and I sit out side with them and talk or hold them and clean up after them , I removed the chair that was on the wall and I stack crates 4 high and bungee them and put the rest up buy the passage window up front. they play in side while I watch TV or cook or shower then at bed time I feed while they are out side and just before bed I take them out again and clean then tell them bed and the ones that can get in the crates go in and the others I pick up and put in and then we sleep then at 6 am we start all over again . yes I do sell some to the right home .

Wow. Thanks for sharing. Good thing poodles don't shed, otherwise you would be spending every waking moment vacuuming!

Oh I know how to drive I have had truck drives tell me I am good and I don't lose all my RPM going up a hill, it's the dang gas stations , I have driven horse trailers and 5 wheels, and toy haulers I use to help my dad move the D9 he had and the 5 th wheel was towed with a diesel , and the motorhome does handle a lot different and doesn't swing out . and I have learned to have a plan , that not all parks are off the road. I am ready to go out again , I have puppy's due in July and and Aug . so I just may stay home for a while , well until I get my rig back
