help newby

Hello everybody, I'm new to the forum so i will need alot of help. I was wondering if I could get some input on an 03 Discovery 38u? Anything would be helpful. This is what I do know about it. It has a cat 330hp I think c7 but not sure. Allison 6 (model ?) Frieghtliner chasis. We are looking to purchase one and tring to become more knowledgeable. I always thought they were great motorhomes but don't see much about 03 Discoverys. Thanks for all the input.

I have an 04 Discovery, basically the same thing.
I have a 3126E engine, as do you. The C7s are an emissions modified engine slightly different than the 3126. Good thing is that the 3126 has less problems so that's good.
I've had mine for about a year and have had no mechanical issues at all, and the craftsmanship on the interior is very nice. I really like the Discovery.
All you have to deal with is HOW MUCH it's going to cost. I'd guess an 03 Discovery would go for about 60-80K depending on condition.

We had an 03 Excursion with the 330 hp. 3126 model. Absolutely no problems with the Allison or Cat. Lots of power. Hopefully the coach has good records and all preventative msintance is updated. Ours had been sitting for almost a year and not been serviced. The cost of oil change, tranny filters along with Allision transmission extended life fluid and many small neglected items added up. However, that's what one gets when one buys used! You will see a great number of Discovery's on the road.

We enjoyed our 03 and I am sure you will also. Have an independent inspector go over the coach. Money extremely well spent! I agree with gauto, $60 80k is the right price range. Check the tires, cost is high to replace all six. Happy travels.

Hay thanks for all the info. Was glad to hear it has the 3126. That is a good motor. Bad news they sold that discovery but not down will keep looking. Really like that coach.

You might also check out the Fleetwood Bounder, Expedition, Excursion, and Providence. They have very similar floor plans. you may find what you're looking for in one of those other brands.
