Hide-A-Loft bunk question

For those of you that have a coach with the Hide-A-Loft bunk, has anyone installed a foam mattress instead of the inflatable air mattress? Also can you drive the coach without the bunk being up all of the way (so the bed can remain made-up).

Thx

Yes to both questions on my Bounder. We have put the bunk ladder under the foam pad (so it doesn't damage the ceiling), and also left pillows on ours and put it up. I will say that it is noisier traveling when it is not all the way up - so we still put the ladder up, but stopped leaving the pillows.

We use a foam pad on our ‘15 Excursion 33D. Much easier than the air mattress. Just have to be careful not to flip the lock switch in the front left corner or the bed will not stay up.

Yes, we put a 6 inch foam mattress in our 2017 pace arrow. It's extremely comfortable. We keep the bedding on it but remove the pillows when we put it up. It does not lift all the way to the ceiling but that is not an issue for us.
