The nuts that hold the hood hinge to the body are (if memory serves me correctly) are tacked to a metal plate that is in back of the fiberglass body. See the circled area in the picture below. These are non adjustable.
I suspect you could place sims in back of the hinge between the hinge and the body, but they would have to go onto the bottom bolts to move the top in. That would move the bottom out though.
I repainted the hood on my dream because the previous owner had put a soupy design on it that I did not like. I replaced it with a straight line across. When I painted it (I hate paint) I made the line to wide.
I played with the alignment and got the gaps correct but the top does stick out. Maybe they did that to give clearance for the wipers?
The white square on the hood is a reflection of the window in the garage door, it is not in the paint.
