You should have an Atwood 6 gal DSI water heater... You have 30 amp service so you will not have the electric option unless someone added it later. You can add it for about $110, but don't try to run the air conditioning and microwave at the same time

Here's a link to the brochure for a '99 Southwind, hope it helps.

Thanks for all of the info. The transfer switch from gen to shore power is automatic. I looked all over today and never found a switch. I only saw wires when removing the outside access panel. I believe these are for the ignitor. I do have 30 amp service. Great find of the manual.

You'll probably find that transfer relay behind your 120V panel... it's a black box.. be prepaired, there are a bunch of wires going all over the place.. not a neat bundle like you'd think.

Rick, since we are suppose to have water bypass, where is it located? I'm going to winterise mine again when we return. It isn't outside behind the panel and I have to remove the bathroom drawer to see the hwh tank. I felt around there and didn't find it.

Look in the bay right in front of the water heater.

Rick, my HWH is located above the driver's side, second from the rear bay. This bay holds my propane tank. The bays forward is in my slide. I just looked in them but did not see any plumbing. Is it possible that I need to crawl into the basement?

First question. What is the Make and Model of the Water Heater? Second Question does the Instruction Book that came with the Unit tell You whether there is an Electric as well as a Gas Burner? Some Do , Many Don't!

Rob, my papers cover both types of HWH's. I'll post the model tomorrow.

Clifftall hit the screw right on the head. No one knows Fleetwood products better than Fleetwood, and often (but not always!) the local Fleetwood dealer. They SHOULD know where all the switches, etc are located.

He said he does not have a water heater breaker in his breaker box

Since the water heater is a big-ticket item, like an Air Conditioner, it normally has a breaker dedicated to it. The fact that there is no such breaker strongly suggests that he does not have a dual-power water heater.

If you look up the exact model of the heater, then go to the manufacturer's web site (or pull your owner's manual) it should say

Here is the model I have (G6A-8E). I'm 99% sure it is LP only.

I still couldn't find a bypass for winterizing it. It looks like this:

I have the same water heater and it is LP only.

My bypass is in the rear closet in the cover for the water heater. It is a blue handled 3 way ball valve.

I did add the Hott Rod electric element and it works fine even with the AC, Microwave or washer/dryer running since I have a shedding control panel. Another popular water heater electric retrofit is the Lightening Rod.
