Hot water heater access.

We have a 2014 Discovery 40E and need to get to the back of the water heater to check the check valves. Has any one found the secret to get to the back. Tried going through the vanity under the sink but can not get there and able to do what I need to do. Talked to customer service at Fleetwood and they were stumped too. This may end up back to a dealer but would rather do it myself.

The WH on my Bounder had a hatch on the bottom accessible from under the coach. It was hard to see because it was undercoated.

It has to have a access panel to hook it up.

Check this link for a discussion on our 2012 Disco water heater access problem:

http://www.irv2.com/forums/f107/disc...ss-203028.html

Once we got to it, removed the valves and reinstalled it, we've had wonderfully hot water!

Terrible design layout by Fleetwood, and Atwood's integrated design of their water heater is pretty pitiful as well.

It took 15 minutes to do the repair, and 2.5 hours to get access...

My dealer says:
The access to the back of the HWT is in the rear bedroom. There will be a removable panel and very little access but it sounds like the check valve on the back of the HWT is stuck.

My recommendation would be remove the check valve/mixer valve when you finally get access, and re-plumb them "direct". Saves having to go through all this in the future. That's what our RV service tech did...he installed a check valve in the water bay to provide that function, and now access is a piece of cake.

It cost me $200 at a Camping World to find access, but now I know the access on our 2013 40E. We had a fitting break on the back of the water heater and I couldn't figure out access. Took to Camping World and they found the panel is located under the sink and there is carpeting covering it. Carpet covering was Velcro'ed and 2 screws holding panel. Easy fix after that. Hope yours is the same.
