If you just have two 6-volt batteries, they should be wired in series to make 12 volts.

I had a 1997 Fleetwood Discovery. Here are two drawings I have from that 1997 coach.

Do you need anything else?

Two 6 volt batteries in series: connect one battery to the chassis ground negative (black cable), connect the other battery to the chassis positive (red cable) connect the two remaining two battery terminals together with a jumper cable ( one positive and one negative) you have now taken two 6 volt batteries and made 12 volts.

Hi mike, I also have some pictures of what the battery bay looked like. My 97 Discovery came with two 6 volt batteries, and I added two more making it a 4 6-volt battery unit.

The pictures don't show the wiring very well since the battery shelves are so close together.. Here are two pictures, one showing what the bay looked like when I bought the coach, and the other showing after restoring the bay and adding two more batteries.

I also have a source I used to make the thick battery cables.

Here's a pic of my battery box. It's obviously different than yours, but from this pic you can see that I have 2 sets of 2 6V batteries, with each pair connected in series (a cable from the negative side of one battery to the positive side of the other), then each pair connected in parallel to each other (negative to negative, and positive to positive).

Good luck!

That set up is the same as my 2006 Discovery battery compartment, only your compartment is much cleaner than mine!

The pictures I show in post 7 were of our previous 1997 Discovery, which we lost to a fire. They should pretty well match the OP's 1998 coach.

Hey Pete,
I took that pic right after I completely refurbished the battery box, with new wire loom, new batteries, and a new paint job! Doesn't look that way anymore
