How do I get this off ????
Hi Gang
I have a 2000 Fleetwood Discovery 38 DP. I purchased a set of SNAP PADS for it. my coach has the 10" base on the levelers. I installed three of the four pads and they went on just as they were supposed to.....using some dishwashing liquid as lubricant.
One of the bases on my rear leveler is bent pretty badly from what appears to having been set down onto a rock or something causing the lip to bend.
I wasn't to replace that one base plate. My front levelers have return springs incorporated on the foot. My rear levelers DO NOT have any return springs. (Not sure why)..
I want to replace that one base plate but cant see how it disconnects from the cylinder piston end. There is no bolt that I can see either going crossways or coming up from the bottom. Does anyone know how to disconnect or remove that base plate? TIA

First we need to know what leveling system do you have? Here is a link to Lippert that has three companies that make leveling systems... maybe by looking here you can find a solution. On the jacks I have the mushroom pad is welded on and can't be removed...Good Luck

Mine are welded on also... most probably are. Only alternative would be if yours are pressed on or threaded and screwed on. Either job would require removal of the jack and taking it to a hydraulic cylinder shop.
You might convince a welding shop to heat and straighten it with the jack fully extended.

Thanks, guys....
My system is Power Gear Hydraulic. The pad I'm referring to is a mushroom style 10" diameter. The pad does have what appears to be a smooth transition to the ram. There is a seam between the two. I do not see any welds, but it almost appears that the pad would unscrew from the ram.
If I cant remove it to swap out, Id like to figure a way to straighten the area that is bent upward but I don't want to heat it to try to move it for fear of messing up the seal from the heat...…..

Fully extended, the heat will not get to the seal. We weld and machine cyl rod ends all the time with the cyl still assembled in the heavy equipment industry. You can also wrap a wet rag around the rod close to the seal while straightening the foot... but fully extend the leveler with the rv on stands.
