Give it a push to release and then pull out?

Not sure if the same, but mine require a good tug to pull out, and then a good push the last 1" to return to the stowed position.

It just has a catch. Grab and pull. We were a Fleetwood dealer. Sometimes these catches corroded and were hard to open. If yours is difficult, after opening clean and lubricate the catch with wd40.
